@YaB0yWolfie@Pro_Kesadia Brother 8 years.. I ain't coming back until we get the next one if we even still do. I will admit though I experience a tad bit of fomo
Yesterday my homie asked me: "How do you deal with haters, and people who have shit to say about you?"
I don't feel like I really have a lot of those, but my answer is: I don't - I don't rebuttal, I don't engage, I don't give energy to nonsense.
I just go out and win some more, grow some more, DO some more.
IDK if they're still watching me and IDC. But what I do find is that: when they catch wind of how far along I've gotten, it burns a deep hole in their ego.
Their tone becomes much more timid as well.
If I could recommend anything to anyone, it would be that you conserve your energy.
Do dope things, pull ahead - let them burn themselves out by chasing you out of spite.
I can’t emphasize this enough:
I am SO VERY GRATEFUL that the #VirtuaFighter community came together to make this happen.
No matter who wins, it’s support like this that gives us a bright future.
So please: continue to #PlayMoreVF and I’ll continue to tell the community’s stories to the best of my ability ✊🏾
Oh snap!
First off: thank you for that spot in the newsletter. Secondly: this is great!

I remember when I first played DOA, I got in trouble for being full goon in my with my drawings in school. I was in middle school.
My mom saw them and was so angry she didn’t know what to do, so she called my dad- who was the artist of the family.
She showed my crude drawings to him and he played it so serious. “I see. I’ll take care of it. Go get in the car.”
My dad, a large imposing black man of great stature with a long black trench coat and heavy scowl got in the car and held the silence for 2 minutes.
The tension… you don’t understand-you cannot begin to fathom how I scared I was. I just knew I was about to get my ass WHOOPED— He then breaks the silence and chuckles, “I did the same thing when I was your age.”
I was so confused. Still scared, I went upstairs, awaiting my fate… He then called my name, shaking me to
my core and I was like, “This is it.” I go downstairs and it’s DEAD OR ALIVE on TV. But then in his hands were a bunch of anatomy books as well as books on renaissance paintings. He wanted to cover the spectrum. He proceeded to introduce me to Itagaki’s work for DOA and NG.
He also took the time to show me how exaggerated the games physics were while showing me a bunch of art books on human anatomy so that I could learn a thing or two. He did this while beating my ass in DOA and introducing me to 2 of the coolest games I had ever played at that age.
He gave me so much information that made me a better artist. Instead of punishing me, he saw a teachable moment. I am now a successful artist living off of my work in New York and I can honestly say that Tomonobu Itagaki’s work had a hand in that.
