Human Rights First condemns the Trump administration’s announcement of unprecedented sanctions against the International Criminal Court, which undermine decades of global efforts to ensure victims of atrocities can see their abusers brought to justice.

Through 50+ interviews w/directly impacted people, legal service providers & analysis of U.S. government data & habeas corpus petitions, the report shares the profound torment & suffering this policy is inflicting on refugees & people who fled torture.

[Human Rights First @humanrights1st]

In our new report, @humanrights1st documents how the Trump administration is systematically detaining people granted protection by U.S. immigration judges and deporting them to countries where they have no nationality, status, or ties.

"Turning our backs on refugees is turning our backs on our humanity"

We join @RCUSA_DC in decrying the admin's presidential determination & continue to call for nondiscriminatory refugee processing & prioritization of at-risk refugees for resettlement.

“The harms caused by this US Government scheme are no longer hypothetical. The arrangements are triggering a cascade of human rights violations, increasing risks of torture and ill-treatment and enforced disappearance..."

Adam* & everyone held at Hotel Bamy in Equatorial Guinea deserve the protection that was promised to them. For the @guardian, @EGJustice's @TutuAlicante & @humanrights1st's Uzra Zeya write about the admin's cruel policy of third country deportations.

We joined 30+ rights groups in petitioning the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances to intervene in ICE's policy of removing the locations of individuals from the Online Detainee Locator System, resulting in enforced disappearances of thousands of people.

Pleased to co-sign letters to the President of the @UN_HRC, HRC Member States & UN High Commissioner for Human Rights calling on them to hold the US accountable for human rights abuses despite its refusal to participate in Universal Periodic Review process

SCOTUS has allowed the admin to resume sending people to 3rd countries where they face persecution or torture. Many of those removed under this policy have faced grave harm, incl. detention, beatings & forced return to the very places from which US courts granted them protection.

[Human Rights First @humanrights1st]

In remarks at an #UNGA event on the Global Alliance for Human Rights, @humanrights1st President & CEO Uzra Zeya urged gov'ts to uphold their human rights treaty commitments, and all stakeholders to consult with and support Human Rights Defenders worldwide. https://t.co/ndw8eYJeB8

DHS must respect due process and give people meaningful notification and the chance to contest removal to a country where they face harm and persecution. @NWIRP @NILA_ImmLit

[Human Rights First @humanrights1st]

We @humanrights1st condemn continued efforts by the Trump admin to dismantle the International Criminal Court, including in his remarks today at the UN. We urge States to continue their commitment to the ICC and to seeking accountability for serious international crimes.

As I discussed with @AJEnglish @MarquardtA the visa revocation policy is not an isolated measure. It’s another tool to funnel asylum seekers as quickly as possible into detention and deportation. Grateful to my colleagues at @humanrights1st for continuing to sound the alarm.

[Human Rights First @humanrights1st]

Speaking with @AJEnglish's @MarquardtA, our Managing Director of Representation, Dree Collopy, discusses how proposed visa revocations are another tool to funnel people seeking safety into the administration's cruel detention and deportation machine.

In her latest Law360 article, Prof. @DreeCollopy looks beyond the immediate impact of a landmark asylum ruling to examine the larger constitutional questions at stake, including separation of powers, judicial review, and executive accountability. More: https://t.co/FPrtj1jVxq

[Aaron Reichlin-Melnick @ReichlinMelnick]

The Biden administration's pivot back to the Trumpian policies is complete. These new asylum restrictions mirrors in large part one of the Trump administration's harshest anti-asylum policies, the 2019 asylum transit ban—which two separate federal courts struck down as unlawful.

[Lindsay Toczylowski @L_Toczylowski]

Reminder: people lining up to seek asylum after three years of illegal obstacles denying them of their rights can also be reported as people doing exactly what the government has asked them to do in order for them to vindicate their human right to asylum.

[Sarah Sherman-Stokes (she/her) @sshermanstokes]

it doesn’t have to be this way. we do not need to replace #Title42 with something equally draconian. under this new rule, the majority of my clients who have now won their cases, would have been denied #asylum. this is inhumane & illegal. 🤬

Expediency & resource management do not justify a departure from our legal obligations to provide meaningful access to asylum for those fleeing persecution. #noasylumban @POTUS @SecMayorkas https://t.co/1iPuSZbXNO
