I read Ulysses as a sophomore and it moved me so much I resolved to pursue a career as a literary-taste curator (AKA professor) in a crumbling, centuries-old institution that has been transformed by market forces into the educational equivalent of Disney World. Drastic shit!
i think i’m accepting that i’m prolly not gonna have the focus and bandwidth to write the novel start to finish without working on smaller projects in the middle of it to motivate me and satisfy my distracted mind….
I used to mostly feel dread at how I was wasting time and not fulfilling my dreams when I would do life-things rather than write.
Now I'm worried that I'm missing out on friends and fun and other life-things because I'm writing instead.
What an interesting pendulum.
