Why is New York City’s political
class so intent on protecting the (illegal) sale of West Bank land in the midst of growing settler violence - and why are NYC synagogues still hosting these events?
Tonight, Park East Synagogue in NYC is hosting a real estate expo to auction off a cluster of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
A synagogue is being used to host the promotion of illegal land sales of stolen land.
Promo describes it as "The Great Israeli Real Estate Event":
Zohran Mamdani's NYPD appeared to be coordinating with ICE at the Bushwick protests on Saturday. Activists worry the young mayor is treading too lightly with Jessica Tisch. This is tension that won't go away.
My latest, for @NYMag

I would rather starve to death than work for the company that made the rocket that killed this child, and I don’t understand anybody who doesn’t feel the same way
Last night, Israeli forces intercepted and boarded a humanitarian aid flotilla bound for Gaza in international waters off the coast of Greece — unlawfully detaining more than 175 people, including several New Yorkers.
My team has been in direct contact with State and Federal partners as we work to confirm the whereabouts and conditions of these New Yorkers.
This is a brazen violation of international law. Those detained must be released.
the connection between the minimization of violence of the n-slur and white people as the “victim” of inconvenience (whether that be homeless people, loud music on the subway, or black people voicing about harm)
@PattesSouris And how thinking about speech clinically (intentionalist) at the expense of socially (structuralist) isn’t necessary. We can’t attend to how harm landed on those Black folks being called, or how an individual’s symptom is not their alone, without denaturalizing the utterance
white dude w/ Tourette’s who screamed the N word can’t be faulted for failing to control his associations/verbalization. And, his speech implicates this World, of which he is a part. And, this World is a problem for Black peoples. He’s an easy target. And, no language is neutral
@PattesSouris Don’t apologize! I feel thought “with” 💗 My understanding is that coprolalila reaches for what the person finds most unspeakable. I am encouraging us to think about the gentleman’s tic as revealing something about the social mind as opposed to (only) his.
