Bc the unfortunate truth is the GOP has found a winning message that they can trot out election after election until the end of time. Which is: no matter how bad things are for you, we’re going to make sure we make things worse for *them*. The *them* being non white ppl, LGBT, poor people, women. Demographics that are already resented so all they have to do is tap into that resentment that’s already there. Everyday living expenses becoming more expensive for everyone is fine with them as long as they know ppl who they view as underneath them are being hit harder than theyre being hit. Anyone who still believes the fairy tale notion that America is a nation where we will unite and band together to lift the least fortunate amongst us up is being naive. That is not who we are. At all.
