@SMSSomaliTV1 I agree this time with Professor Abdiwahab’s suggestion about the education and business cartel model in Somalia. In many cases, the standard of education is even lower than what would be considered elementary-school level in Western countries. Much of the system appears to be #
Erdogan’s Shadow Over Mogadishu: How Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Traded Somalia’s Sovereignty to Protect His Son: 🧵
In the murky corridors of power where personal survival trumps national dignity, few deals expose the rot at the heart of Somalia’s leadership more starkly than the one binding President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud (HSM) to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The story begins with tragedy on the streets of Istanbul. On November 30, 2023, Mohammed Hassan Sheikh Mohamud ; the president’s son was behind the wheel of a diplomatic-plated BMW when he collided with motorcycle courier Yunus Emre Göçer. The 38-year-old father of two later died from his injuries. Turkish authorities charged the president’s son with causing death by negligence. He left Turkey shortly after the incident. An Istanbul court eventually convicted him, issuing a 2.5-year sentence that was commuted to a mere fine of around $900. Critics in Turkey decried the light treatment as favoritism tied to the strategic alliance between the two nations.
George Yeo, former foreign minister of Singapore.
He displays a far deeper understanding of European history and its conflicts than most Western politicians ever have.
It’s rare to see a high-ranking official speak with this level of depth, clarity, and insight in an interview.

@radiodaljir@HassanKeynan2 Turkey controls Somalia’s resources, holds private deals with select officials, ignores everyone outside Mogadishu, and delivers nothing back. That is not partnership. That is positioning. It is pushing Somalia toward civil war. Change this policy now.
@radiodaljir@HassanKeynan2 Prof. Hassa Kaynaan is one of Somalia’s most respected voices. His career spans decades at the United Nations, he is a former athlete, and he has lived through enough Somali history to know what a country in danger looks like. His analysis carries weight because he has no agenda#
@musewelib@M_Farmaajo My standard is different. A leader remembered for deepening clan politics, nepotism, corruption, and misuse of public resources cannot be framed as a national reformer. During his tenure, Somalia experienced increased political polarization, weakened institutional trust, Sick man
