The number of children being suspended from schools across state schools rose by 13% during the pandemic. Gypsy & Roma pupils continued to have the highest rate, followed by mixed White & Black Caribbean pupils @GypsyTravellers@GypsyTravellerM@APPGGTR. https://t.co/H9SeEnnluK
@TravellerRacism No media mentions he's a Traveller, but they would if it was negative, they portray a narrative we just don't fit... ibeen sharing it on fb for a week. No media has picked up his ethnicity or don't want to.. well done John Rabb from hertfordshire
📽️'Hurjasa'/'We Will Fly' is a new short film in Romanes, by @bowers_jake.
🎻Based on an epic poem, the film covers the history and roots of Roma people as well as contemporary Roma role models from across Europe.
The film premieres on 22 July: https://t.co/2yeB7OsP8l (1/3)
@TravellerRacism@ExeterPolice @ExeterPol No they didn't, I spoke to the sergeant and negotiated industrial estate stopping for them. It was 9.30 pm fri night, 50 kids moved on twice that day. I've written to the officer in charge.. flexing there muscles. No welfare check, disabled and pregnant Travellers amongst them.
So it begins, riot police for families with nowhere to go. No transit sites in Bucks.. disgraceful Thames Valley police. You didn't think to talk to them first offer an alternative.. there homeless, and now cri inilsed for that https://t.co/pXyX5qEWJH
If articles as provocative as the one in this screenshot were written about any other ethnic group there would rightly be uproar. The rights of Travellers, Roma, and those with nomadic practises must be protected. Europeans love to ‘condemn’ racism until it targets Travellers.
This image sums it up well. Also @Drive2Survive3 are a campaign group doing great work criticising over-policing of their communities which is an issue that affects other ethnic and cultural groups, as well as LGBTQ people and workers everywhere.
