Real ADHD: I know exactly what I need to do. I have known for six days. I have thought about it approximately 400 times. I have not done it once.
I am not avoiding it. I am waiting for a version of myself that can start it. She hasn't shown up yet.
hey does anyone else also thinks its eerily coincidental that the moment women with autism and adhd start to get recognised and diagnosed we suddenly see a wave of people pushing this ‘over-diagnosis’ rhetoric
Of course news publications are reporting that there is a ‘risk of over diagnosis of autism and ADHD’ off the back of the government’s review even though that is not AT ALL what the review actually states. In actual fact, it found that the prevalence is ‘broadly stable’.
We autistic and ADHD adults exist too.
Support cannot stop when someone leaves school or turn into a maze of waiting lists.
Neurodevelopmental conditions do not magically disappear on our 18th birthdays.

I would really like to know where these 'rushing to diagnose ADHD' parents live because in my area kids are routinely waiting 3+ years from time of referral to their first appointment.
On SNJ Today: Our joint Save Our Children's Rights campaign has had an open letter to Andy Burnham and Lucy Powell printed in The Guardian. We know people with lived experience don't want to lose SEND rights. We need the Government to listen https://t.co/qiGnAgdTh3
And…..Social media can intensify these pressures , and can be a channel for bullying, contributing to greater distress and poorer mental health - particularly for those already living with anxiety, depression or eating disorders
Why is no one picking up this finding in the #mentalhealthreport .
We find that education has become a more significant contributor to distress than for previous generations, but not that it is the principal cause of the rise.
It’s not being over diagnosed, people who have suffered their whole lives and felt broken and inhuman and unable to function properly have finally been given the answers they deserved as children. ESPECIALLY women. My life is a disappointing mess because I was never seen.

Attendance awards have no place in an inclusive school. They are discriminatory, unfair, harmful and promote a culture of exclusion.
Schools should promote inclusion, not shame, stigma and exclusion. Reasonable adjustments are a legal duty, not a privilege. #SEND#DisabilityRights#EqualityAct2010

Attendance awards that penalise children for disability-related absences are discriminatory. Disabled children should NEVER be made to feel they’ve let their classmates down because of illness, disability or unmet needs.
I was pleased to have contributed to the independent review from Prof Peter Fonagy which highlights an urgent truth: our children are distressed.
A million children should not be waiting for help with mental health or an assessment for autism or ADHD.

DWP silent after Tory member of PIP review publishes report demanding child disability benefits are slashed
Gov figures show, 'Deep Material Poverty Rate: 19% of children in disabled families experience deep material poverty—more than double the 8% rate for non-disabled families' !

I'm nearly sixty and have been recently diagnosed with both ADHD and autism.
I have self-medicated my entire life since passing puberty at 14, leading to a lifetime of addiction.
How different my life would have been if I was diagnosed as a child like my son has been.
