No rest for the wicked down here in the Tennessee Valley. New GFS Ensembles are pegging another 5+ inches of rain through the next 14 days. A moderate drought persists so this will help eliminate that, but after the last 10 days of being inundated, I'd like more than 4 days dry !
This is something I have never seen before on satellite.
Clouds perfectly outlining roads.
Just incredibly neat imagery of Houston, Texas this morning.
Massive shoutout to @Emokwx who discovered it.
@mattwridley The charted curve of lifespan inflates like a sail, but the farthest tip hardly budges. I think we’ll see people making it to 90 become regular but we haven’t reinvented the human so much yet that 130 is the new 80 for the next 50 years, probably.
@MalcontentmentT It was a matter of time that these hybrid tactics should evolve into something more kinetic. It’s precisely the reason we kept seeing so many “accidental” incursions to boot.
@YourWaifu I'm a Meteorologist and kept seeing a lot of absurd claims from Europeans about their climate, so I've just come to the somewhat hilarious conclusion that since they *always* resist our stubborn Americanisms, in this one case where we're correct, they can't abandon the principle.
@Andrea19aaa@Random832@nmheath0377742@222rainclouds Really, housing and the materials used is just a cost-benefit analysis… the odds of any one house getting hit by a tornado are vanishingly small even in tornado alley, it’s not worth the money to make every single house a concrete bunker (which wouldn’t stop EF5s anyways)
@Andrea19aaa@Random832@nmheath0377742@222rainclouds Pardon my ignorance to sarcasm if there was any intended, but this is completely unrealistic. If that threshold was really used, more than half of the continental US would be a desolate wasteland.
@jrmamana Chattanooga, Huntsville, and Knoxville being in these circles are funny to me. I’ve lived in 2 of those 3 cities and they’re perfectly fine places.
@PardFerguson@jbillinson This is an unironically great learning experience as to how effectively insular echo chambers - usually not of our own making - are.
To be sure, there were demonstration animations aired on many networks. No footage that is cited as official is secretly an animation, though.
Already 13 years since the infamous Moore, OK tornado, which for some time was the last EF-5 tornado before the infamous “drought”. PX-1000, a mobile radar run by OU ARRC, was perfectly positioned and scanned the tornado thru its entire life
