Cannot thank the house enough for an excellent & emotional send off this afternoon. Lovely messages from staff & students (present&past) reminding Mrs B and I why we love this job! Sad to be going, but proud to be part of Duffus House history. Still work to do to finish off term.
We also said thank you and farewell to Mr Smith after 5 brilliant years in Duffus. 2 years as AHM and three as a tutor, his commitment to the boys has been incredible. Brilliant memories from the house, exped and much more. #sograteful#christmaself#duffusboy#luckyboys
It has been an emotional few days of goodbyes. First up we celebrated the year 13s and their outstanding contributions to Duffus House. They passed on their wisdom and best wishes to the house, before we got our chance to wish them luck. Cannot speak highly enough of these boys!
In the group events, Mr Smith's tutor group came out on top and in the year group event it was the year 12s who were victorious. They were closely followed by the year 9s. Thrilled by the commitment of all boys in the house and great fun to keep everyone socially involved.
The boys have been outstanding this term with the online challenges. Countless videos, quizzes, pop up challenges, etc. which have brought endless smiles to my face. Well done to William A Yr 9, who won the overall competition, closely followed by Friedrich G yr 12
Looking forward to celebrating the excellent achievements of our Year 13s this afternoon at their Diploma Ceremony! A chance to acknowledge the enormous importance that had - and have - to the school! ๐๐๐๐๐๐โค๏ธ
Sad to see our feathered friends leaving tonight after two happy years! They have been great for the boys and the delivery service to staff has been fantastic. It is time for @HopemanHouse to have the fun now. Good luck! #cantbelievewehavetobuyeggsnow#duffusfarmliving#clucky
Tonight we are thrilled to be joined by OG @hamiltonburr96 (Duffus 2014) for a student seminar. Currently playing professional rugby in New Zealand, he can provide a fantastic insight into the world of elite sport and relate it to @gordonstoun experiences. #stounsport#dreambig
Our hearts are sore & our eyes are filled with tears today, as we mourn the passing of Neil J, a much loved member of our @gordonstoun community. His cheery smile, while driving the @gstounjunior minibus, will always be remembered. Our thoughts, love & prayers are with his family
Challenge number 4 is asking the boys to recreate some kind of iconic image/painting/movie scene. The boys will need to be creative and think what props they have in the house! If I am asking them to do it, I thought I should try and give it a go as well!#happytomakeafoolofmyself
Winners of the Duffus themed baking challenge are the Wilding brothers in Dubai. A very creative effort at making the Duffus colours tie, with shirt. Love the added touch of the name tag! Well done boys and family for getting involved! #lookstasty#shirtwontstaywhiteforlong
Tuesday means challenge! The boys are being asked to get in the kitchen and show their culinary skills, baking or cooking. Pictures of our example, as we (actually Mrs Baird) baked a tasty cake in the form of the Duffus House flag. What will you come up with? #notgoodformywaistline
Tremendous response to the Tiktok style video challenge, tough to pick a winner. It had to go to House Capt Guy S and his mother @SallySharp1 for this fantastic effort. Great sport Mrs Sharp! More to follow. #duffuscompetition#gottogiggle#familyvalues
Weekly Challenge 2 today was launched with the boys. We challenged them to create a 'TikTok' style video, on their own or with family preferably. Here is the Baird's attempt at one. This challenge is put out to all staff, OGs and parents. Let's see what you have! #cuttingshapes
