Today @espn published a piece about an open letter created by AOSSM and signed by 27 partner organizations addressing the growing complexity of the sports medicine field and the increasing risk of providing the highest quality care to elite athletes.

Good for Carter! BAD for future academy athletes. Some find excellence in scholarship, medicine & athletics while cadets. Ask grads BG(ret) Pete Dawkins and former Surgeon Gen. LTG(ret) Nadja West who deferred & then served the nation with excellence. Let athletes do the same!
After an outcry over the future of Army LB Andre Carter II, politicians scrambled to alter the language of a recently passed Congressional bill that clears his path for the upcoming NFL draft. https://t.co/2xvuY5Kr8Z
Faulty logic @chairmang. Some cadets find excellence at USMA in scholarship, medicine & athletics. Just ask grads and BG(ret) Pete Dawkins and former Surgeon Gen. LTG(ret) Nadja West who were allowed to defer & then served the nation with excellence. Let athletes do the same.
An update: ESPN has learned w/@TishaESPN that Wisconsin Congressman Mike Gallagher @MikeforWI introduced the amendment that's putting Andre Carter's draft status in flux. His office didn't return requests for comment. Here's Gallagher's reasoning via committee debate:
Outrageously unfair and disrespectful to Carter and those cadets who committed to serve. Now it appears “someone” made a repulsive back room deal to try to change the rules. Would love to know who that “someone” is so they can take responsibility and try to explain themself.
There’s a cruelty to what congress is doing here. Not allowing a cadet to postpone his service obligation to pursue the NFL not only crushes Andre Carter’s dream, it ignores the value a pro athlete can provide as an ambassador for the military. https://t.co/Iw8GiqHGXc

3 years ago, I was told not to mention my disability when applying to med school by every premed advisor. It would come off as a “weakness.” Now as an MS3, I’m seeing this feature shared with @DukeHealth and @DukeMedSchool. Feeling seen and strong 💪🏽

I spent the last week digging into Mike Lindell and My Pillow, including spending 1.5 hours talking with Lindell yesterday. Here's what I found: https://t.co/UCMxt5zMRD
