Starting a pinned master thread to track how I am progressing with translating《西湖梦寻》to Hungarian.

@JellybeanKimchi Thank you! Made a series of 12 similar looking busted up, violently looking clay seals. This is the first one to be cut. Still need to glaze and burn them again after carving.

This violently beautiful seal, carving 我口恶而心善，言恶而意善也 "Though my mouth is filthy, my heart is pure and though my words are harsh, my intention is lofty" from that titan Li Zhi's "Note on three kinds of stupidity"《李贽·三蠢记》. Bro looks like it's been through war.

@XianyangCB @HistorianZhang Oh, no disagreement over that. Writers outside academia do a hell of a lot more for wisdom than most people inside academia. I guess, I meant academia as a passion for what I call wisdom because I'm old school like that. That might've been lost for decades in neoliberalism.

@HistorianZhang @XianyangCB Also, yes, in a sense it's reconstruction. Think how for instance Plato's Republic or the Hanfeizi, don't merely present a set of information, they do that, THEN start talking about what to do based on that set of information and WHY beyond doing it for its own sake.

@HistorianZhang @XianyangCB A coherent view beyond simply "oh well, this is the data" because that is still just the gathering data phase, or the end of that phase at the very best. A lot of the times I feel a lot of the books written are stuck at this phase. Present data, don't really extrapolate from it.

When you're just about to run out of empty seals, but your sister visits and brings the final pieces from your last batch. Gosh, I love holding clay seals in my hand. Such a calm, tranquil feeling. The texture, the porous surface, the weight, the clinging sound when they touch.🥰
