BREAKING: OpenAI insider arrested.
Engineer Abdulrahman Alfozan allegedly hid a recording device in OpenAI's executive conference room.
It was wrapped in toilet paper and plugged into the back of a TV.
OpenAI used its own models to catch him.
The FBI made the arrest.
@sobhan_nejad When you look at how Google makes money and what they give away makes more sense, but does seem to be an endless $ pit to compete for a worthwhile open weight model, think they also make money from large companies customizing them through licensing but have no idea $ in that
@thsottiaux@victornunez Not going to lie…It’s pretty amazing running Astra Ultra 1.5 on multiple threads when you know a reset is incoming. It’s like a dream 💭
Nvidia is in early talks to buy Reflection AI or deepen its stake, five days after Reflection unveiled Beam, its first open-weight model.
> Existing Nvidia investment in Reflection: $800M (FT)
> Structures discussed: acqui-hire with a tech license, more chips, or a larger equity stake
> Reflection had held talks to raise $2.5B at a $25B valuation (WSJ)
> Beam: 501B total parameters, 23B active; waitlist only, weights promised later in October
> Nvidia's recent deals: Hugging Face for $12.93B in September and a roughly $20B Groq licensing pact
No terms are agreed, per Bloomberg. The FT says an acqui-hire could avoid a lengthy regulatory review, and the Justice Department is already examining how the Groq deal was structured.
