@Longwool Have witnessed some incredible horseback cutting and sorting. Drovers being mounted clearly helps keep a sense of calm for the cattle and everything runs smoothly and stress free. There's alot of skill there! Main difference to here though is there's not a saffron bun in sight.

@westcottpiemont @FisherP22 Piemontese calves are very small for calving and usually no trouble at all. Pedigree heifers can be a bit tight, I find due to the heifer more so than the calf. I have learnt not to worry about getting them calving at 24 or even 30 months, a little more growing time helps greatly

@cvfarming @Longwool @sheryllmurray I was very impressed with her recent involvement with the EFRA committee and her questions to processors regarding the beef price collapse. Let's hope that with @MPGeorgeEustice and @sheryllmurray returning as MP's they can deliver a positive outcome for the ag industry.

@DanielMcpartlin @jktbeef I run an infertile bull with chin ball with heifers. He's really earning his keep. Way more accurate than scratch pads in my opinion.

@jktbeef Chin ball on a vasectomised bull is the way. Much more accurate as he'll only mark the bulling ones. Have used kamars in past but loads of false detections, waste of money.

They are loosing a valuable pollen and nectar source as farmers stop growing OSR and planted crops fail.

@gamstonlad @sunkfarmer Would you say we'd be OK with ours? (see photo in response to main tweet) Seems incredibly forward. Only our 3rd year growing it, had one great year and one disastrous year. Nervous about everything we do with the OSR as so inexperienced.

@sunkfarmer Our OSR in Cornwall. Only now able to get Caryx on due to wind and rain. This was planted mid Sept. Year before we planted early Oct and lost nearly all from being planted too late. This year we would have got away with it 🤷‍♀️

@FarmersOfTheUK Yes, lots are predicting that water will be in even shorter supply this summer than last. Deep roots will certainly help find moisture. Both our beef herds were remarkably content last summer despite the lack of green grazing and all pastures recovered well.

@westcottpiemont Just installed my first Jourdan for my Pies a couple of weeks ago.... using mine for AI'ing in the shed @RichardBrown they are really handy. Replacement tags, TB test, worming. Really are worth it if your shed is away from your crush or you have to work the cattle by yourself.
