Joint Coordination Forum on Data & Statistics convened in Mogadishu, co-chaired by SNBS DG Dr. Abdisalam Mohamed, UN’s Deputy Special Representative to the Secretary General/Resident Coordinator, George Conway & Martina Durrer, Regional Director for International Cooperation at the Swiss Embassy. A key step forward for Somalia’s statistical ecosystem.

The Forum comprised a broad coalition of stakeholders such as SNBS, statistical departments from FMS, line ministries, the World Bank, Swiss Cooperation, FCDO, AfDB, & UN agencies (UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, UNHCR, UNHCR, FAO), as well as other development partners & technical experts.

Deliberations focused on harmonizing data systems, closing critical gaps, strengthening coordination & aligning with the National Transformation Plan, SDGs & Agenda 2063. Partners reaffirmed support for Somalia’s second National Strategy for Development of Statistics (NSDS II).

The Forum concluded with a strong, shared commitment to co-create a modern & Somali-led data ecosystem.
