The Home Office has rushed out statements condemning “misinformation” and “inflammatory commentary” around the murder of Henry Nowak — but silence on the fact Hampshire Police tried to push an official “disinformation” statement during the trial that prosecutors feared would compromise the integrity of the case.

The government lectures the public on not prejudicing proceedings while turning a blind eye to a force effectively attempting its own mid‑trial narrative management.

If a YouTuber did what Hampshire wanted to do, ministers would be threatening prison; when a chief constable does it, the Home Secretary offers platitudes and moves on.

This is not about protecting the rule of law, it is about protecting the system from embarrassment.
