Full-time, eight-generation farmer here. I love the sentiment. The reality is tough. In 1930, there were 6.3 million farms. Today, thereβs less than 1.9 million. Fewer and fewer people are called to feed more and more.
Youβll see an increased stratification of the food system. A small percentage of buyers will choose to buy direct from the farmer.
A high percentage will go through the machine for their food.
The 234 million acres of farm land that grow the big four crops will continue to be farmed by less and less people.
@CaryKelly11 Really sad about @KillerBread My family loved the Burger Buns Done Right until they increased in price, shrunk in size and feel like a chunk of cardboard.
@TorkWhisler We hardly feed ourselves. Look into where the fertilizer comes from, the active ingredients in chemicals. The chips in our equipment. Weβre not self-sufficient.
