We love investing internationally because there are so many big opportunities that other investors miss. Many of our best investments have been abroad, even though no one has heard of them. But the mechanics are really different for US angels and funds. Read on >>

Over 30 million Californians are under heat warnings or advisories, including an exceptionally long 6-day Extreme Heat Warning for all of Southern California.
LA could hit 99°F+ for 6 straight days, SD 90°F+ for a week and SF 90°F+ Saturday.
Indian Summer has arrived.
As an entrepreneur in the Netherlands, I’m increasingly worried about where we’re heading.
More restrictions, higher taxes, and less room to build and invest.
At some point, entrepreneurs and capital simply look for a better place to grow.
That should concern all of us.
The Mexican Navy’s tall ship Cuauhtémoc has sailed into the San Francisco Bay. The iconic vessel is docked in our city this week as part of their 2026 North Pacific Training Cruise, a 92-day trip to ports along the coasts of Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Today we welcomed the ship’s crew into City Hall, and wished them good luck and calm waters ahead.
If you want to see the ship in the port, come to Piers 15-17 on the Embarcadero before Sunday, September 27. There will be a farewell ceremony on Sunday at 9:30 am before she sets sail at 10 am.
Our next round of founder + investor events starts this week.

A severe heatwave is coming to the Bay Area this week. Parts of SF could hit 95°F and San Jose 100°F on Wednesday.
SF could see back-to-back 90°F days Tuesday and Wednesday, with very warm nights. Microclimates do matter: the Outer Richmond and Outer Sunset may not crack 80°F.
SFO airport is SO much nicer than Heathrow. Basically never any queues, no hostile commercial area where you're forced to walk through perfume-filled air. Quiet. Lots of space to sit.
What explains this? Just the US being richer? Is SFO unusually nice for US?
For all the young founders who told me two or three years ago that they had to drop out of school to start companies at that moment or it would be too late:
fundraising masterclass from @travisk
on valuation: "I'm always saying it's at least this and it can go up, but I start low... so it only goes up, so that everybody's pumped, leaning forward"
start low, get bid up. anchoring initial price too high is a rookie mistake
We were proud to be part of One City Day.
SFPD joined volunteers across San Francisco to help beautify neighborhoods and give back to the communities we serve.
Thank you to everyone who joined us!
