If a Conservative government had agreed to the terms Carney just did on the Gordie Howe International Bridge the entire Canadian political and media class would be accusing us of selling out to America 51st State style.
@irbrodie And it's not like you get some kind of award and praise for not spending your campaign limit. Either you spend it or you lose it. The fact there's even a debate on this is ridiculous.
The latest 'floor crossing' of @amboultbee reminds me how glad I am that I left BC and how I'm thriving in my own career across the country as there are next to zero opportunities in my home province for people my age who grew up there after 9 years of NDP govt. #bcpoli
The Chinese commerce ministry says the levy is the result of an anti-dumping investigation it launched in August last year that found Canadian products were dumped in China.

At risk of upsetting a few people here, 24 Sussex is one of those small things that reveals something deeper about our political culture, unfortunately.
We've known for a decade the official residence was falling apart and nobody wanted to make the call because the optics of spending money on a house were too uncomfortable. So instead we just let it rot and in the process are gonna end up needing to spend more. This is too often how we handle things in Canada. Everyone focuses on the short term optics and doesn't want to risk bad press, so it's hard to make tough decisions that will invite pushback even if they are necessary and often forces worse or more costly decisions down the road.
Canada's PM needs an official residence up to the task. Somewhere to host foreign leaders etc and somewhere secure, something just like leaders of other countries we consider our peers. Just get it sorted, whatever that looks like.
I am devastated to learn of the death of an @SPVM police officer during a police operation in Montréal.
My thoughts and prayers are with the officer’s family, loved ones, and colleagues, as well as the family of the citizen who also lost their life in this tragedy.
Thank you to all the police officers who bravely mobilized to protect the community.
Wild footage from Montreal earlier during a shootout between a heavily armed gunman and police. Per reports from the police and Canadian news outlets, 1 police officer, 1 civilian, and the gunman are now dead.
