@AlfonsoMora84 How closely do you follow the transfer dealings of those clubs? I’d wager it happens to them too. It even happened to Liverpool a couple times with Caicedo and Lavia. Also, these are just the deals you’ve heard about, I’m sure it happens even more behind the scenes.
I know people want to believe we lost out on Munoz because of boardroom incompetence/Eddie Howe (somehow), but the reality is his camp leaked the move and stalled in the hope a bigger club would come in – and one did. The lesson is not to get your hopes up from social media.
@SportBearz Been thinking this too. There is zero benefit for Spurs in how publicly their “interest” is being played out. I reckon he will end up at City or Arsenal and Spurs fans will be making the exact same complaints that Newcastle fans are making now.
@Pure_Belter I don’t think we should be walking away. The important question is whether we have been doing work in the background on alternative options while they were stalling. If we have then it is what it is and we move on. If not, it’s amateurish and we’ve learned nowt.
@Kevduncs@NUFCThreatLevel I simply don’t believe a word anymore. Once reliable reporters will post micro updates and frankly anything for interactions and clicks. If that is indeed what happened then the club are very foolish, but I really struggle to believe any professional club is that incompetent.
@Kevduncs@NUFCThreatLevel Could be wrong, but I highly doubt we spent weeks haggling for a player with a release clause when it’s been in the press. Most likely we were willing to pay it but Munoz’s camp was stalling in the hope something better would come along.
@BROWEA Osula wasn’t getting any starts either, look how he ended the season. You earn your right to play. Wissa showed nothing on the pitch, and obviously wasn’t showing much in training either.
People won’t want to hear this, but standing in the way of players moving to bigger clubs is also bad optics and will make players think twice about coming to #NUFC . If you back yourself to be good enough to play for a Sky 6 club in 2/3 years, you’d be better off at Brighton.
I just really disagree with selling our better players to Big 6 / competitive clubs, the optics are so poor, man.
Sell abroad, do intelligent deals, get replacements in first. Why do we always feel on the back foot.
@wuds100 I don’t think he has the G/A output to be a considered a top tier midfielder when he’s not really a defensive midfielder either. I genuinely think if (big if of course) we reinvest what will be large fee correctly we could end up a more balanced side for it. Anderson sets the bar
Spurs are not going to pay anything close to what #NUFC will demand for Tonali (but if they do I’m personally happy to let him go). The pot is being thoroughly stirred here for a different move by someone
🚨 Tottenham Hotspur want Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United. Positive talks between #THFC & 26yo; no contact yet with #NUFC. Transfer fee bigger challenge than player deal. De Zerbi driving pursuit, backed by ownership @TheAthleticFC post @FabrizioRomano https://t.co/6BYQwDPHfU
@gw850 The only truly irreplaceable player is Bruno. Every other player can be replaced with a similar if not better player for less than the inflated fees we’ll receive.
@NUFCgallowgate@DN_deportes How is this nonsense still going around? Real Madrid cannot insert a clause for a player they don't own. If they choose not to match Nufc's bid for him then their initial agreement with Osasuna expires and that is the end of their involvement with the player.
@_EnGee This guy used to be a troll account with Glasner as his profile picture, built up a following, then decided this summer to get a blue tick and become an ITK. Have to respect the grift I suppose.
🚨 Newcastle will replace Steve Nickson with EXTERNAL appointment
🔚 Recruitment chief has told club he is leaving for Championship job
⏳ Talks ongoing, but NUFC want Nickson to work until end of window & then leave
⚫️ Senior figures relaxed & say summer work unaffected
