@_Bill_ I’ll finally add that laity often don’t know that they aren’t elected to attend a meeting. They are members for the full year and there can be called sessions at any point (thus the called sessions we’ve had and will have this year)
Friends, just a reminder. Clergy work for many years to become members of the Virginia Annual Conference. To ensure that laity have equal standing, laity are also members of the annual conference. By Discipline there are no “delegates to” the ac. Laity are members of. #vaumc22
@_Bill_ The Discipline never uses the word “delegate” with respect to annual conference. I haven’t researched it completely but I believe this was part of the ‘39 reunification of the M Protestants who fought for lay inclusion
@_Bill_ Thanks, Bill. The difference is that most laity are members of their local church…their church membership is located in the local church. Lay members hold dual membership in both their local church and the conference. So they are elected members equivalent to clergy.
I'm old. I still have cable. But today @verizonfios dropped the Science channel with no warning (that I saw). I spend an increasing amount of money for an ever-shrinking number of channels, and I'm rethinking my aversion to multiple streaming services.
@thricemantis @MarthaEStokes Thank you, Alan! I could not be prouder thank seeing the ministry you and so many others I’ve been able to partner with are doing!
@dannyjniemann I don’t know you, but I’ve worked in the church my whole career. I’m sorry. I believe God loves you. And I’m sorry we failed you. You are wise. Keep speaking truth.
A Virginia high school is putting a new spin on drive- thru graduations. Seniors at Buckingham County High School have their pictures on banners and graduates are encouraged to load their families in the car, wearing their caps and gowns.

done shopping at @Lowes. Ordered a refrigerator 3 weeks ago, scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Now rescheduled for another week--a month to get a fridge delivered from a store 5 mins away. #poorcustomerservice
