🇫🇷 French corn conditions deteriorated again last week, the crop now rated just 41% good/excellent.
That's down 43 pts in 4 weeks. For U.S. corn, only one 4wk period (June 1988) recorded a 43 pt drop.
Some analysts think France's corn crop could be the smallest in 50 years.
USDA cuts old-crop U.S. corn ending stocks by much more than analysts expected, while soybeans came down slightly more than expected.
New-crop wheat and corn came down from last month. Soybeans were unchanged but below analyst estimates.
🇺🇸U.S. export sales were modest last week, and corn sales fell below expectations. Most of the new-crop soybean sales were to unknown destinations.
Some 30% of old-crop soybean sales are to China, and 99% off them have been shipped.
How often does corn truly bottom in June? 🌽
Below is the month new crop corn has posted its lowest price of the year over the last 20 years
We’ve only seen our lowest price in June once
That year was 2010
Back in 2010 we bottomed on the day of the June 30th acres & stocks report before running from $3.50 to $6.00 by fall
August and September clearly dominate the lows. As it’s marked the lows 7 of the last 10 years
This data doesn’t mean you can’t put together a rally before hand. It just suggests the ultimate low for the year doesn’t often come in June

A look at today's NOLA urea price vs history.
Today's high price (fallen back slightly in later trade) is still well below the 2008 and 2022 high water marks...but farmers are getting destroyed with current corn values WELL below.
Why we preach inputs and outputs for marketing.
🇺🇸🇨🇳Both scenarios - 12 million or 20 million tons of U.S. soybean exports to China in 2025/26 - would be the smallest in nearly two decades (outside the first two trade war years).
But imagine shipping up to 20 mmt of U.S. beans basically alongside a full Brazilian program? 🤯
#Soybeans gap higher after President Trump posts that he just concluded a phone conversation with China's President Xi, and that he is asking that his "friend" increase #soybean purchases in current year to 20 mmt. #oatt
@sanegrain I too came from an elevator that offered many marketing contract solutions. Over my years of experience, most of the time simpler works out to be better... just need to have a plan.
Task list for today:
1. Figure out how to get my cost per bushel for growing corn below $3.70 cash and beans below $9.70 cash ASAP.
2. see number one.
Any ideas for where to start?
Other options include:
1. Pray that everyone else has a drought except me
2. Wait around for another government handout.
3. Disregard my numbers and go forward like everything‘s fine until somebody tells me it’s not
U.S. corn stocks come in at the high end of expectations with the larger crop. Soybean stocks are higher on lower exports, and wheat stocks were also higher on lower use.
Ok, found an offer for BN secondary shuttle freight. Best be sitting down.
J,F,M 2026 offer $1500 per car above tariff. IF this number trades, you write a $165,000 check for 110 cars before you even see them on your track.
