Whereas early on in the pandemic the US incentivized unemployment by increasing unemployment pay and our unemployment rate increased drastically during April and May.
I’m impressed by the French economic relief plan. I was skeptical at first until I read all of the details and understood it more. They have decreased the unemployment rate tremendously.
The following reasons have contributed to this:
•Incentivizing a “short-time working scheme” where the government pays citizens more to be employed.
•Incentivizing working overtime by exempting additional income tax and social security contributions on overtime hours.
Human Capital > Higher pay
I always see people wanting to be paid more RIGHT NOW, but a lot of us are young, inexperienced, and easily replaceable. Build knowledge and skills now and you’ll be irreplaceable later.
