RHP Jackson Jobe has been placed on the 15-day injured list (retro to May 29) with a grade one right flexor strain.

RHP Dylan Smith has been selected from Triple-A Toledo to join the first major league roster of his career. Smith will wear uniform number 58.

To make room for Smith on the 40-man roster, RHP Alex Cobb has been transferred to the 60-day injured list.

@Matty_KCSN @zerosokx Yes once he's 'mid-step' he just gets unlucky. But often you see two players go for the ball and one sees he can't get there first so pulls up a bit--doesn't go in as hard. That's what they are trying to encourage with this rule. But it's not perfect, and this was a tough break.

@transictus @tjmcaulay A trapped ball is dead because it touches the ground. This ball never touched the ground. So it can only be dead if it is possessed by a player who is down. They are saying he never had possession. That's the disagreement.

@minimeadow @Noahpinion Plus, I'm sure they will still teach statistics classes at Nebraska. Getting rid of a department allows them to cut tenured faculty to save money. I'm guessing this was a budget call, based on the number of majors, cost of PhD students, etc.
