The Great Roblox Outage happened 5 years ago.
The outage lasted from October 28th to October 31st (2021), totaling more than 3 entire days. Before the outage begun, users were encountering issues on the platform before servers crashed. Afterwards, the remaining servers and website either crashed or became dysfunctional. Hours later, Roblox displayed the infamous image stating "We're making things more awesome. Be back soon." -- they were not going to be back soon.
Roblox posted nearly 70 hours after the issue begun that regions were gradually being brought back online, and after nearly 73 hours, Roblox posted that Roblox is finally back online. The outage marked the last time Roblox had 0 players, with the previous instance of 0 CCU happening in 2016.
While users have speculated that the in-game Chipotle promotion for free burritos running at the time had led to the servers being overloaded and shutting down, Roblox dismissed that rumor. The official cause of the outage was linked to alterations in Roblox's infrastructure, specifically with a streaming feature in the Consul Cluster & BoltDB freelist page manangement.
We believe we have identified an underlying internal cause of the outage. We’re in the process of performing the necessary engineering and maintenance work to get Roblox back up and running ASAP. Thanks for your patience.
@RblxTracker It was one of the worst mistakes that Roblox ever made and all it did was just make the Roblox community unhappy and the only reason Roblox did it was to please the greedy investors who wanted more money…
Searching for Roblox on iOS will now display games from your recently played.
You can also now directly search for Roblox games you have played, from outside of the app.
@RhysiebroTV Well the broom is in a place where it resembles something inappropriate and that kinda stuff will get flagged up and removed by Roblox moderation
