The UK will provide Saudi Arabia with “defensive air-to-air refuelling” support following Houthi drone and missile attacks, Prime Minister Andy Burnham said.

The support, expected to begin in the coming days, will involve a single RAF Voyager aircraft based at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.

UK officials said the deployment will be “time limited” and likely last “for weeks.”

Burnham said the move followed a Saudi request for “military support” and was aimed at protecting regional stability and British interests.

“Saudi Arabia has been experiencing attacks, is looking at potential further disruption, and we need to keep those pathways open, and hence our agreement to the request.”

Crosetto argues Italy can secure its own commercial vessels rather than waiting for EU decision-making to stall an already escalating energy conflict.

With Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz choking off Gulf crude, the narrow waterway off Yemen remains one of the last viable arteries for Suez-bound trade and the Houthis are already tightening their grip along the coast to close it.

And when Italy complains that EU red tape moves too slowly for them, you know global supply lines are in an actual terminal crisis.

MAJOR: Saudi last night launched strikes against the Yemeni capital of Sanaa.

In response, Ansarallah (Houthis) is stating that they will be responding in kind… by targeting RIYADH.

This is a massive escalation if Ansarallah moves forward with targeting Riyadh, as it will become VERY dangerous for Mohammed bin Salman’s increasingly fragile grip on power if the capital cannot be defended from these counter strikes.

Given how effective Ansarallah has been at hitting key Saudi energy infrastructure… The coming days could get really dangerous in the Middle East…
