The Project Implementation Unit successfully commenced Day 1 of the Capacity Transfer Training Series for Ministry staff, marking an important step in strengthening institutional capacity and ensuring long-term sustainability through knowledge transfer and skills development.
Through the Eastern Africa Regional Digital Integration Project (#EARDIP), the EAC is supporting implementation of the EAC Cross-Border Payment System Masterplan, a key milestone towards seamless cross-border payments across the region.
The Masterplan will:
✅ Improve interoperability between national payment systems
✅ Reduce the cost and time of cross-border transactions
✅ Expand financial inclusion
✅ Support digital trade and investment
✅ Strengthen regional financial integration and economic resilience
By building the digital infrastructure and policy frameworks that enable faster, safer and more affordable cross-border payments, #EARDIP is helping lay the foundation for a more connected and competitive East African Single Digital Market.

The East African Community (EAC) and IGAD have officially opened the Eastern Africa Regional Digital Integration Project (EARDIP) summit in Nairobi. Bringing together member states from across the region, the high-level talks focused on harmonizing telecommunications, cross-border data flows, and advancing e-commerce readiness. As the region works toward a secure Single Digital Market, the Federal Republic of Somalia and SONNA are on the ground to ensure active participation and strategic alignment in shaping Eastern Africa's digital future.
