Horror, metal, and all things taboo. Somehow also a poet and English professor. Still hoping to become an infamous horror writer...pushing limits of bad taste.
@JoeyRPoole It’s great. Most of the big releases this year aside from Guardians 3 have been mediocre at best, so it was great to have two of the years best open this weekend. Oppenheimer was better, but Barbie is so subversive and hilarious. It’s having exactly its intended effect on alphas.
@JoeyRPoole Strange New Worlds has been my favorite of the new shows aside from Season 3 of Picard. It actually develops most of the characters unlike Discovery. Lower Decks is fun. I’m looking forward to this episode when I get a chance to see it.
@CordierDarren@TheSylvreWolfe@Jason_Aldean I grew up in a small town and some of it was good, but it was nothing like it’s made out to me. I’m a straight white male, but I was bullied and beaten on a daily basis by my peers for not being manly enough. Racism was and is rampant. Classism is assumed. Favoritism is the law.
@JoeyRPoole Bands tend to sell CDs at shows. They tend to be cheaper than shirts…lol. Bands sell them on merch sites and Bandcamp. The big chain stores still sell them. Barnes and Noble tends to have a music section. You can easily buy them on Amazon. Still, I tend to stream.
@MythicalPatriot@SRockyChase2@davidmweissman@gtconway3d They were hoping to detain or murder members of Congress that the disagreed with. They’re entire intention was to overturn the results of a legitimate election that they very clearly lost. Furthermore, it all could have been avoided if their candidate had admitted that he lost.
@WesMakin@marchxness “Stone Cold” is probably closer to a radio friendly version of Deep Purple than classic Rainbow. Ritchie Blackmore really wanted to have radio friendly hits at that point.
@marchxness@JamCharlesworth I have no expectations on this. I thought I’d just have some fun with a song that had zero chance of winning. Personally, I do prefer my song by a wide margin, but I know nostalgia alone dooms me. Fittingly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen more than a few minutes of Dirty Dancing.
@JamCharlesworth@marchxness You’ve got the number one seed and a coherent essay. I’ve got a rock band and some playful words. I’d count the odds in your favor. Although I went down in flames with a one seed, losing to the Plaidness runner up…King’s X. Rainbow doesn’t have King’s X level alternative cred.
@JoeyRPoole @marchxness I got the fading revenant of a Rainbow that somehow brightened for just enough to crack the charts. Actually, it’s a decent song and album, but the fact that this zombie of a once great band is “a one hit wonder” says everything about rock music and the idea of hits.
@JoeyRPoole They only want 50,000 words, so that is pretty short. Do I think one can write a solid final draft that is publishable in a month? For most people, no. Could one write a solid first draft? I’d say yes. I’d likely write an extreme horror piece, so the standards are low for me
Vote for @kingsx and @PCMadden3. King’s X deserves the respect they were always due. They taken down some powerhouses already, so let’s make the Breeders the next high seed to get knocked out of the tournament.
