A highlight from yesterday’s poster session- Valentin Wernet’s work on carnivorous, worm-eating fungi!!! Their hyphae grow into net structures to catch their prey 😱 So cool! #ECFG15
@Team_Thomma: a single effector is responsible for Verticillium dahliae ability to infect tomato, and this effector can confer ability to infect tomatoes on other strains! 😱 Another single effector can manipulate the microbiome in favour of the pathogen 🦠 #ECFG15

Nice talk #ECFG15 by Bart Thomma @Team_Thomma on the role of genes within lineage specific (LS) regions of the pathogen Verticillium dahliae in colonization. Effectors impact on niche colonization and manipulation of host microbiome. LS regions devoid of DNA & H3K9 methylation.
