Senior Analyst, Canada Water Agency @WaterAgencyCAN; water quality & health of the Fraser River basin. Content is mine, not the Government of Canada's.🇨🇦
The #FraserRiver isn’t just one river, it’s connected to hundreds of tributaries across BC. 🌊
A #tributary is a smaller river or stream that flows into a larger river, helping shape water levels, habitats, and the health of the entire watershed.
Meet a few of them here!
Separated by hundreds of kilometres and very different landscapes, Tŝilhqot’in and syilx territories in fact share similar forestry challenges.

1/2 Minister Dabrusin announced over $4.5 million in funding to support 39 new projects across #Canada through #EcoAction and the Fraser River Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative.
Freshwater is fundamental to our health, our environment, and our economy. That’s why today, through the Canada Water Agency, I announced support for 39 new freshwater projects across the country that will support community-led initiatives focused on a shared goal: protecting our water.
From watershed restoration and early-warning systems for harmful algae blooms, to protecting freshwater ecosystems, these projects demonstrate what’s possible when we work together — and will help build a stronger, more resilient Canada, for generations to come.
Big news! We are investing over $4.5 million in 39 local projects through #EcoAction and the #FraserRiver Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative to improve #WaterQuality and ecosystem health.

In 1998, the Fraser River was designated a Canadian Heritage River for its outstanding natural, cultural, and historic value. It’s also the longest river in Canada with this designation.

Grimly accurate framing here from the local AM station: the minister of forests and the @bcndp government don’t manage these life-giving ecosystems for the hundreds of values they contain, but instead for just one of them, that’s extracted at the expense of the others.
