The “Peleset” were a Greek sea people who settled in south-west Canaan. Their region was known as Philistia and they were Philistines. They were destroyed by the neo-Assyrians. Much later, the Romans renamed Judea as Palestina to de-Judaize the region and as a nod to Greek culture. There is no genetic or cultural relation between ancient Philistines and modern Palestinians.
