We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as well as the Government of Japan, who have today partnered with the County Government of Machakos to address the pressing global concern of climate change.

We have today received stoves worth Kes. 200 Million from UNDP, and the Government of Japan to help in enhancing Accelerated Clean Cooking.

The donation is aimed at facilitating the transition from inefficient biomas stoves to cleaner and more sustainable cooking technologies and fuels to enhance the quality of life in Machakos County.

The transition sets the stage for an environmentally responsible future where firewood and other forms of fuels that are harmful to the environment will not be in use.

The Climate Change crisis presents us with challenges that demand urgent and collaborative action. This will speed up a collective response to the climate change emergency in order to establish a robust and resilient green energy development.

The programme seeks to benefit over 100,000 households directly and about 2 Million individuals by 2028 as far as the use of clean cooking is concerned.

When a county is transparent when it comes to budget transparency, citizens are able to engage in decision-making in the use of public funds to improve their lives.
