Knicks fans have been waiting their whole lives for this very moment. So much to digest from this team. Starting with Jalen taking a paycut.
The ULTIMATE Winner. He sacrificed for generations of fans.
Dad’s with their son’s. Grandfathers with their grandchildren. All crying in joy, as the buzzer sounded.
Jalen and Rick met at halfcourt, and that hug was representative of us all. It was real. A son and a father. A moment that will last forever.
He sacrificed for all of us, and did what he was born to do.
Win. 🏆
And with that comes arguably the greatest Playoff Run in NBA History, capped by a 45 Point Masterclass. A Masterclass in Mental Toughness. A Masterclass in Respect. A Masterclass in gamesmanship. A Masterclass in Leadership. A Masterclass in being a great teammate. A Masterclass in Being Humble.
And now, a Masterclass in what it means to be a Champion.
Thank you, @jalenbrunson1 from every Knick fan. I would say to most players, you don’t know what this means to us, but you do.
You did from the start. 🗽🏆
Kendrick Perkins on Jalen Brunson:
"This man has become the greatest Knick of all time. He will never spend another dime on another meal, another drink. I don't know if he's even gonna have to pay his mortgage in the city of New York. This is Mr. New York. He is the new Derek Jeter of this generation. All time great run"
Thinking about how Rick Brunson was a reserve on that 1999 Finals team while 2 year old Jalen Brunson was running around the MSG locker room in diapers. Now Jalen is carrying this franchise on his back. This isn’t basketball, it’s cinema.
Alex Cora is the perfect manager for the Mets
He is an experienced winner.
He has played for the Mets
He knows how to manage with high-priced talent, and when the Red Sox spent, they won. He knows how to manage a pen and has a pulse
Never understood why the OFers were so deep for Carter and Mitchell with two outs and no one on. Those seemed like catchable balls if playing in the right spot.
Boston Red Sox vs New York Mets. 1986 World Series. Bottom of the 10th… this is the kind of moment that makes legends and breaks hearts at the same time.
"This team was one of the most unique teams I've had in 52 years. Never one argument amongst the players - impossible, summer and regular season. Not one potential fight or somebody getting upset at somebody. I've never seen that in my 52 years.
They were just the greatest kids in the world. They wanted to win so badly. They were willing to do anything to try and win. I'll never have a team like this again with that type of attitude. I may have some good teams, but never, ever again with this type of attitude. Just incredible people and my heart breaks for them right now."
- Rick Pitino on this year's St. John's team
St. John's is the first program in the history of the Big East to win back-to-back conference regular season and tournament titles.
The Red Storm are 42-4 in their last 46 games against league competition.
Rick Pitino has changed and is now sustaining it in NYC.
A huge loss to the New York radio/media landscape. The team of @BrandonTierney and @sal_licata was always entertaining, intelligent and fun to listen to.
Two of the best in the business. The @BTandSal show sure deserved better than a quick hook from @WFAN660.
@BrandonTierney Best of luck to you and Sal, BT! You guys actually talk sports and don’t engage in all the ridiculous nonsense. Keep grinding! Been a fan since the wheeelhouse! Go Johnnies!
Elevate Brady Cook to the active roster today or tomorrow, give him the week to practice with the starters, & let's see what we've got in the rookie #Jets
@jaymaccustoms It isn’t on any of these kids. This team is infuriating. Average 8 runs for a week then they can get 8 hits in a game for a week. The starters are horrendous! Kids are the only reason I can stomach watching right now.
