RepCon 2 underway ! Really good to see so many students engaging in our virtual conference and hearing all the student concerns with the upcoming year. 205 course reps listening in so far !
I have created the Student halls champions initiative to act as a feedback system from students who are living in halls and have first hand experience. Especially during a second lockdown we must make sure that students feel safe and that their fundamental rights are being met!
Want to know how the council is working with the @portsmouthuni & Hampshire Constabulary to reduce the risk of coronavirus infections? Last week, colleagues joined Mark Waldron, editor of @portsmouthnews for a discussion - Watch again & read more here: https://t.co/X2XVAhZ8pU
We have been working extremely hard to organise a host of events for #BlackHistoryMonth. The themes for the 4 weeks of the month are education, awareness, campaigning and celebration. Keep an eye out on our socials as we’ll be releasing the BHM timetable very soon!
This appeared in an @educationgovuk document today. It is nothing short of insulting from this Government who may be suprised to know our "niche student activism" has done everything from leading anti-apartheid movements to saving millions of pounds for students.
Today marks the arrival of Ramadan. For our Muslim students we understand that this year will be very different in the current climate. We have pulled together some online tools and support for you at https://t.co/c7FlrL8eta
Helpful to catch up with @portsmouthsu officers and actions being taken to help @portsmouthuni students during this crisis. We discussed issues over exams, accommodation, lost earnings and wellbeing. Government is acting on concerns of those in work; our students deserve no less
The rest of the sabbatical team and I just had a really useful and productive meeting with our local MP @StephenMorganMP about how we can work together to best support students during this challenging time💜

I’ve teamed up with @portsmouthuni@portsmouthsu in calling on student accommodation providers in #Portsmouth to release students from their contracts. It’s time for housing providers to do the right thing to stop hardship👇🏻
We support the 'No Detriment Policy' being implemented both in @unisouthampton and Exeter university, to ensure a more empathetic and ethical approach by our educational institutions in this current global health crisis.
A statement from the Sabbs, regarding the recent petition calling for the University to implement a 'No Detriment Policy', so student's grades are not negatively impacted from the disruption caused by Coronavirus. They are actively lobbying the University on this stance for you.
Research has shown that only 7% of students attest that their university has discussed the BAME attainment gap with the student body. A policy has been introduced which will affect all A-Level and GCSE students, let's explore how the most vulnerable are disadvantaged by this.
We've set up a Coronavirus Support Group especially for University of Portsmouth students! This is moderated by your Sabbatical Officer team. Check it out for top tips on distance learning and updates on how the Officers are representing your concerns https://t.co/PwISv4XVjB
Fantastic to see a private accommodation provider making a decision that will have such a positive impact on students during this uncertain time. Let's hope that the rest of them will follow in Unite's footsteps! @Prime_Student@comelivewithus@CRM_Students@nusuk 👏👏👏
Would appreciate any support on the awareness campaign I have started surrounding the use of predicted grades to dictate your future at HE, and how they disadvantage both BAME & the working class students!
So please go follow, like and repost and let's make some noise on this!
