A word on the Mexicans too. I’ve only seen people be friendly and welcoming. On my way out I saw England fans at a bar singing Hey Jude with Mexico fans. This is a wonderful city with wonderful people. If you ever get the chance to visit, don’t hesitate.

If you didn’t watch today’s England vs. Mexico game, you didn’t just miss the game of the tournament—you missed one of the greatest World Cup games ever.

Just imagine it: Mexico produced a sensational first half and completely outplayed England. It got so bad that Pickford had to pull off a miraculous save. Then, out of nowhere, Jude Bellingham struck twice in the 36th and 38th minutes. Mexico responded immediately with a goal in the 41st. Three goals in just five minutes!

The second half was pure chaos. O’Reilly smashed one off the crossbar in the 50th minute, Quansah was sent off in the 53rd, and England had to play the rest of the game with ten men. It looked like the perfect opportunity for Mexico to complete the comeback.

But the madness wasn’t over. England won a penalty in the 60th minute, and Harry Kane buried it to make it 3–1. Then, just six minutes later, Kane himself conceded a penalty, allowing Mexico to pull one back in the 66th minute. The game ended with England hanging on for a dramatic 3–2 victory.

This was the undisputed Game of the 2026 World Cup so far—and one of the most valuable World Cup qualification wins in England’s history. ❤️

To everyone in Mexico City who made England supporters feel so welcome over the last few days, thank you. What an incredible city you have, and even better people.

For those who travelled from England, this will be remembered as one of the favourite away trips. Thank you to everyone who organised, hosted and welcomed us with such warmth and respect.

From the Chihuahuas at our Fans’ Embassy to the Lucha Libre, to the bars and the restaurants, the incredible stadium atmosphere and the respect shown after the final whistle, it’s been a trip we’ll never forget.

Nos regalaron la mejor fase de grupos mundialista en toda la historia del fútbol mexicano. Hicieron un partidazo imperial ante Ecuador en los dieciseisavos de final. No recibieron ningún gol durante 4 partidos consecutivos. Lucharon hasta el último segundo ante Inglaterra en los octavos de final. Y lo más importante de estas semanas: le regresaron la ilusión, la felicidad y la motivación a todo un país.

Gracias por elegir a México, Julián Quiñones. Gracias por nunca rendirte, Raúl Alonso Jiménez. Gracias por tu atrevimiento, Gil Mora. Gracias por tus atajadas, Tala Rangel. Gracias por dar el mejor torneo de tu vida, Piojo Alvarado. Gracias por nunca dejar de correr, Erik Lira. Gracias por tu liderazgo y ejemplo, Memo Ochoa. Y gracias a todos los integrantes de esta selección porque, aunque el sueño no se cumplió, representaron con honor, dignidad y orgullo a México.

Sí, aunque hoy todo es tristeza, decepción y dolor, este grupo de jugadores SÍ representó lo que es México. Nunca vamos olvidar este torneo. Y nunca vamos a olvidar todas las emociones y toda la ilusión que nos hicieron sentir. Porque de eso, precisamente, se trata el fútbol, y la vida misma.
