@colonelkurtz99@McJuggerNuggets They may have health complications, but they do not have sad lives. They’re the happiest people I’ve ever met. Just want to put that out there. Health complications doesn’t mean someone’s life is sad or an awful fate.
@Utterly_Jean@Dancr200 I agree, but you can think through the scenario & adapt to best meet your kids needs even if you feel stressed. Being stressed shouldn’t mean you can’t adapt or meet them where they are.
@Utterly_Jean@Dancr200 Normal things can become stressful for people though. I’m ADHD & get sensory overload so then normal stuff can be stressful when it didn’t before. It’s my goal to not react out of that place of stress. I totally agree addressing it beforehand would be good.
@AmiEverAfter I did a CEU on helping manage stress a few years ago. (Covid era in healthcare) Viewing water (lake, ocean, stream even via YouTube if that’s all you can), listening to water, & water features all help calm and regulate us. Even puddles apparently. 💕
@AmiEverAfter@Utterly_Jean@peachsweet_tea There’s ways to provide some sense of control by providing appropriate choices even in this situation. At this age, giving choices they can make will help them feel some sense of control, which helps encourage cooperation.
@audrawrongspeak@Utterly_Jean The contagion theory in actually about this. Babies can sense their Mom’s stress/anxiety & even then experience similar sympathetic nervous system activity.
@oliveegger@AmiEverAfter@maxaemand Do you have parkour or ninja warrior gyms anywhere near you? My oldest couldn’t/can’t be still. He has taken parkour & ninja warrior classes in the past and enjoyed them! Some kids need more sensory input to regulate.
@ineedanothernap@oliveegger While I acknowledge some are overprescribed and not accurately diagnosed, there are some kids who truly do need medication & it actually helps them thrive. It’s like taking a 10lb weight off their shoulders when in a foot race w/ classmates.
@oliveegger@maxaemand How old is he? There can be a steep learning curve for some when first attending structured school at a young age. I think it’s better than doing it later when they’re expected to be even more focused on actual academics though.
@GeriPerna I actually see them here commonly & never really see overweight people on them. The hills in the mountains are intense so a boost for hills doesn’t mean they aren’t peddling the rest of the time.
@LeahRain77 She deserved to finish the race. It was honestly selfish on the husband’s part to think it didn’t matter enough to let her finish what she clearly worked so hard for. She’s a Mom, but not ONLY a Mom.
@beyoncegarden Bro, God made the rainbow of His promise to not flood the earth again sooo why are we anti-rainbow with that “God Made” shirt? Also, kids just like rainbows.
@Hopperfan@ubiquitousnewt It could be. It’s a short clip, but if someone asked my expert opinion based on just this, I’d be like this isn’t just a typical tantrum.
