🛡️ NATO ALLIES PREPARE TO DEFEND THE SUWALKI CORRIDOR

Lithuanian, Polish, and French troops will conduct the international Gallant Boar 2026 exercise from June 16 to 26 near the strategically critical Suwalki Corridor.

Soldiers from Lithuania’s Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Battalion will train with allied forces to conduct joint operations, synchronize command structures, and improve readiness for the rapid defense of the region.

The Suwalki Corridor is a narrow land link connecting Poland with Lithuania and the rest of the Baltic states.

It lies between Russia’s Kaliningrad region and Belarus, making it one of NATO’s most vulnerable and strategically important areas.

The exercise reflects a clear priority for the Alliance: allied units must be able to deploy, coordinate, and fight together from the first hours of a potential crisis.

Residents should expect intensive military traffic along the Klaipėda–Kryžkalnis–Kazlų Rūda–Marijampolė–Suwałki route from the morning of June 13.

Today, the European Union took a major step forward.

All Member States agreed to open the first accession negotiations cluster with Ukraine and Moldova.

At the first Intergovernmental Conference on Monday, we will open the cluster on fundamentals; the backbone of the accession process.

It covers the core values and principles on which the EU is built, from the rule of law to strong democratic institutions.

This is a recognition of the determination, courage and hard work shown by both countries in advancing reforms, even in the face of immense challenges.

And a signal that the EU’s offer of peace, stability and opportunity is unmatchable.

Enlargement is a strategic choice.

By bringing our nations closer together, we strengthen peace, security and prosperity across our continent.
