A friend passed away Sat. He was also a lawyer who represented my company.
What struck me about his death (other than sadness) is he sent an email about a case right before he died--from the hospital.
A short thread on loss, lawyers, and life. #AppellateTwitter#LawTwitter
McLane recently announced the promotion of two leaders to new roles to accelerate the company's vision and goals: Eric Hildenbrand has been named Chief Strategy Officer, and Vito Maurici will serve as our Customer Experience Officer. To learn more, visit https://t.co/UAYuemimrD
THREAD: Pete Martel was incarcerated for 14 years. 30 years ago he robbed a store. Shot at police. Free since 2008. Turned life around. Got a law degree. Chosen as law clerk on Michigan Supreme Court. Hes 48 now. True success story.
Another judge just forced him to resign. Sick.
@j_freel If you have a little extra time, stop at Megg’s (https://t.co/vXBGxLxO3d) in Temple. It is the go to spot for breakfast/lunch for my team. If I am in town, I would be happy to buy you your first Freedom of Choice breakfast; it is basically enough food for an entire trial team.
Hey Texas! Early voting starts one week from today -- October 24. I just blocked off my voting time for October 28 on my calendar.
What's your voting plan?
@legalshmendrik @J_Dot_J You are not being a stick on the mud. That’s the rule. I will not attend if the other side will not have a lawyer on the call. Over the years, my colleagues have learned this and now they tell me in advance that they have already made sure the other side will have a lawyer on.
@J_Dot_J@j_freel Same here. In fact, our oldest continues to play along for our youngest. He figured out quickly that telling them would take some fun out of the holiday.
We are hiring a mid-level regulatory lawyer at McLane. I’m happy to discuss the position in more detail. We have a great legal department (although I admit to some bias in making that statement) https://t.co/4ho8ekvHls
My best advice for new attorneys and law students is that you do not have to be an asshole to practice law. You can be a good person who treats colleagues/opposing counsel with respect and still be an excellent advocate for your clients.
