Great look here at one of the longest drivers on the PGA Tour. What I want you to notice is what his head is doing through impact. There is not a single great driver of the ball that I have ever seen who isn't moving backwards through impact.
How can you do this? Without getting technical, I want you to move your chin from the lead shoulder to the trail shoulder in the downswing. You will start to hit the ball longer and straighter than ever!
🏌🏿♂️I see this every week: golfers watch Rory, get to the top, and just “spin the hips” as fast as they can. The result is predictable—zero strike, arms thrown out, and no real power. Speed is not a single joint moving fast. Power is a dynamic sequence: load into the lead side, stay closed for a beat, use vertical force, and push up and back so the hips clear the correct way. That’s how you create space, keep the club in front of you, and deliver real compression.

This is why it is really hard for me to watch golf. How can we still be at the point in golf where we have announcers talking about the valley effect and that the ball should break towards the valley, water tower, ocean, etc.
Why does it bother me? Because I hear what these TV announcers say all the time in my teaching bay what these announcers say and I don't like them leading the masses the wrong way. I heard yesterday that someone hit a poor shot from 100 yards and they were 10 feet from the cup. Why is that bad? Because that is inside the tour average and they are telling the average watcher that if they aren't 3 feet from the pin it is a bad shot.
I often ask when doing putting clinics and lesson how many putts they think, what percentage, the Professionals make from 10 feet. The average answer is about 75 - 80%. The real answer is 40%.
Anyway, would love to hear what anyone else has to say about the TV announcers and their lack of golf knowledge.
