Last night we had our annual Spring Fest. Students proudly showcased their artwork and sang songs for families. Thank you to Mrs. Bastille, Mr. K, the theme committee, and all of our students for all of your hard work!
A big thank you to the EKES PTO and families for a wonderful teacher appreciation week. The teachers and staff felt so much appreciation throughout each thoughtfully planned day. We are so grateful to be part of such a supportive community.
Students in first and second grade had their first Celebration of Learning today. They spent the past two months learning about Indian culture. They proudly shared all they had learned with the many families that joined us. We greatly appreciate the support of our EKES community.
Staff Spotlight! Ms. Hoffmaster, a former Kingfisher, works as a paraprofessional and in the before and after school program. She helps make learning fun for all students with her cheerful and enthusiastic personality. She is very caring and students know they can count on her.
Students participated in Read Across the World Week before vacation. Students read books from different countries and decorated their doors to represent one country. They participated in a museum walk to guess which country was shown on each door. We had so much fun!
The first issue of the Kingfisher Chronicles was released today! It is a student-made newspaper that highlights their creativity and some of the fun things happening at EKES. You can get your copy at the Jones General Store or the East Kingston Public Library!
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 worked to program Dash robots to navigate through a course during Mrs. Titone’s STEAM classes this week. Students did a great job using their critical thinking and collaboration skills to tackle this challenge!
We had our January KEWL Convention yesterday. Mrs. DeLucia’s class led the school in a greeting, told jokes, sang a song with their fifth grade reading buddies, and led a discussion on what we are thankful for. Students were thankful for their families, friends, and EKES!
Staff Spotlight! Mrs. Nigrello has worked at EKES as a paraprofessional for over 20 years! She builds meaningful relationships with students, and her genuine care and expertise shine! Mrs. Nigrello goes above and beyond to make every day at EKES great. Thank you Mrs. Nigrello!
A big thank you to Erin Pinkham from The Maker’s Post for donating this beautifully crafted sign to EKES. Our staff and students see it every morning as they head to class and we love having it to remind us of the amazing community we are part of!
Staff Spotlight! Ms. George is a lifelong East Kingston resident and former EKES student. She is a paraprofessional, works in the kitchen, and volunteers after school to help with the play. She has worked over 20 years at EKES! Thank you for your dedication to EKES, Ms. George!
