Hi @rmcleman. I had an additional question for my research project regarding urban sprawl. I am focusing on the effects it has on farmland. In your opinion, is there a more urgent concern when it comes to urban sprawl today?
Hello, @rmcleman. I'm researching urban sprawl and its effects on land for EM 203 at Laurier. I remember you spoke about soil layers and health in ES 110. What strategies do you think are most effective for protecting the soil in agricultural land?

Ontario is rapidly losing farmland, and farmers are stressing how this loss limits local food sources and poses a risk to long-term sustainability #EM203Research.
“Since 2001, Canada has lost the equivalent of seven small farms per day to accommodate urban sprawl driven by mass immigration”, is a quote I came across directly relating to the problem of urban sprawl I will be covering for the #EM203Research project. #EM203Robin
@PollockNoah, great job on your concept map covering smoking. I liked that you included marketing as a cause. One #EM203problems I am concerned with is health misinformation. False information can cause many issues, especially because the internet allows it to spread so quickly.
A Sedentary lifestyle was not a term I had heard before, but after reviewing @EM203emarwick's concept map, I became familiar. I identified a #EM203problems with this topic, concerning children not getting their typical exercise and now seeing a decline in basic motor skills.
@EM203JBoyd, your concept map on education was very well organized and in-depth. One #Em203problems I see that you briefly touched on is equal access to education and learning resources. Like, students with disabilities often don't get the necessary support to help them succeed.
@EM203KartikM Hi Kartik, I too have gained much knowledge from the first few lessons of this course. With reflections and group discussions being a great source for interaction. I think it's this interactive format that allows me to retain information better. I am excited for what is to come!
@EM203JJLau Hi Julia, I am pleased to know you have also felt challenged but have had fun in this course. It has definitely required critical thinking, but also includes reflection tasks that are more light-hearted. I am looking forward to what's to come of this course!
@EM203aowchar Hi Adria, it was interesting to hear you took on the knitting challenge and your learning process for it. I decided to do the Sudoku task, which was a mentally challenging task, but I worked my way up to the expert level through practice.
@Em203sarahlynch Hi Sarah, I also enjoyed the multitasking challenge, as it was interesting to see how our cognitive abilities are affected. Although I did read about connectivism, my discussion was about constructivism. I found it to be effective, encouraging students to stay motivated.
@EM203MChapman Hi Madeline, I have to agree with you that these first couple of weeks have been enjoyable and insightful. The experiment we participated in was particularly interesting because it allowed us to see how we function when our focus isn't centred.
In the first three weeks of Wilfred Laurier's #EM203Robin class, we have touched on concepts surrounding the digital age and life. This week, I was excited to see we would be learning about multitasking. I am looking forward to the coming weeks of this course!
