VOICE | "Hiring an independent agency means you will hire the people who directly control the decision to work with you. There’s no corporate overlord poking with electric prods. Indies choose where we put energy, how to grow, what to spill blood, sweat, and tears on," writes Jaime Robinson. https://t.co/Zr2kiFuh8H
One of the most shocking and weird things I see ALL the time from entrepreneurs is a failure to simply repeat what works.
Let me give some examples:
- a guy posted 3x a week on LinkedIn and built a 1000 person email newsletter. Then stopped posting.
- a woman I met signed up three A-list BIG brands as clients. Then she stopped pitching to other big brands. Instead she signed up 18 startups who don’t have money and who take up all her time.
- a ScoreApp client ran $2000 of ads to his scorecard. It generated about 270 leads. He then ended the campaign and didn’t run it again. A year later I asked if it had generated sales … “about $25k” he said.
- a small team did a 5 day internal push to call through all clients and ask for referrals. It worked. They collected hundreds of hot intros. They only did this once.
All of these businesses paid me consulting fees to give them some new ideas to get oversubscribed. In each case my first piece of advice was “repeat this thing that worked!”.
@FelicityHannah I could write an essay here, pain, etc definitely, but there's also a whole language to get used to as well. This can feel alienating to begin with so ask -and watch the others. Hot soaks in magnesium bath salts afterwards. Good luck! Sure you'll get totally hooked - I am 😅
Tech-related press releases 🤯 Come on people. If you can't explain it in plain, simple English and I don't get it, it is unlikely readers will understand it. The jargon, the made up words....
Women In Journalism is revolted by the misogynistic & bullying comments made by Jeremy Clarkson about the Duchess of Sussex. The brutal, graphic & derogatory language used was entirely unacceptable.
We stand in support of all women who are targets of abuse and hate within media.
@KimekoM The meeting point between contextual targeting and behavioural - contextual *steered by* live behaviour, in fact. It's happening and it works without cookies/IDs etc. It's pretty cool stuff 😎
Launch day for @weareilluma's super-cool cross-platform targeting tool, Illuma Compass™. As the CTV market booms, Illuma's contextual AI is leading the way, as always💥
