Hospitality contributes £140 billion in revenue and provides 3.5 million people with jobs.
“All of those benefits to Britain, our lives and communities, are put at risk by the £3.5 billion budget hangover hitting the sector" @UKHospKate tells @thetimes.

‘THIS IS AN EMERGENCY’ - MANCHESTER’S HOSPITALITY SCENE CALLS FOR GOVERNMENT TO REDUCE VAT TO 10%
Our hospitality scene is in crisis.
Restaurants across the country are closing at an alarming rate, and many chefs, owners and operators across Manchester are ‘on a cliff edge’.
They are calling for a reduction in VAT to 10% from the current crippling rate of 20%, more than double the average seen across Europe.
It would ease the pressure they’re facing from rocketing energy bills and the cost of raw materials.
Your favourite restaurant could close tomorrow.
To stop that happening, watch our film and sign the petition here: https://t.co/gzssQUTGiI
We could help keep a lid on inflation by cutting VAT to allow businesses to absorb additional above inflation increases in NLW and energy and business rates in April without increasing prices
Lower VAT for hospitality

The Government have failed the Hospitality sector.
Failed to help with a VAT reduction.
Failed to get a grip on the big Energy Co's who have leeched off the sector.
Failed to save businesses. Failed to save jobs.
My comments in todays @MENnewsdesk

‼️In My Opinion: "The government have failed to help the hospitality sector by refusing to reduce VAT."
🔹Sasha Lord, the night time economy adviser for Greater Manchester, says that means venues are closing daily, with huge job losses.
🔹He also blames big energy companies for putting their prices up.
