Police Bullet Left Me Paralysed, Shattered My Dreams — Ibadan Poly Graduate

On August 16, 2021, Nurudeen Azeez says his life changed forever after he was allegedly hit by a police bullet while returning home. The Ibadan Polytechnic graduate said he had just arrived from Lagos and was heading to his apartment on a motorcycle when he suddenly heard a gunshot and realised he had been shot.

According to Nurudeen, the officer who allegedly shot him asked him to stand up, but he was unable to move. He said the officers left the scene, and it was passersby, along with a colleague who recognised him, that came to his rescue. He says the incident left him paralysed and shattered the dreams he had worked so hard to build.

Only an Olóríburúkú person would look down on Ìyá Alákàrà and other petty traders. These are the same hardworking people running Nigeria's original "small-scale industries" long before fancy business buzzwords became popular.

Funny enough, many of us who now speak big English and sit in air-conditioned offices are products of the sacrifices of these traders. If not for the community of Ìyá Alákàràs, Mama Put operators, market women, and roadside hustlers, some of us would still be waiting for a miracle shipment from heaven.

I can never mock honest work. I owe a lot to the hardworking women and men who wake up before sunrise to keep Nigeria moving. They showed us that there are far better paths to success than becoming an Olóshó or a Yahoo boy.

So please, respect the people selling akara today and offer any little help you can. As for those mocking these jobs, don't worry, losers. The child these jobs are helping to feed today will be the one signing your children's employment letters tomorrow.

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI FOIL TERRORIST ASSAULT AT MALLAM FATORI, NEUTRALISE OVER 80 INSURGENTS INCLUDING HIGH-PROFILE COMMANDERS

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) in the early hours of Wednesday successfully repelled a coordinated and simultaneous five-pronged terrorist attack on own positions at Mallam Fatori in Sector 3. The terrorists, who advanced in large numbers on foot and deployed armed drones in a desperate bid to breach the defences of locations of troops, particularly along the frontage of Bravo Company from the Duguri general area, were met with overwhelming resistance.

Having maintained full situational awareness of the battlespace, troops had anticipated the attack and deliberately prepared an offensive-defensive battle designed to decisively defeat and annihilate the assault elements. Through disciplined fire control, coordinated manoeuvre and superior tactical execution, the attackers were engaged, disrupted and routed in disarray, with no fewer than 80 terrorists neutralised during the engagement.

Additionally, the firefight was further reinforced by precision of close air support from the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, complemented by rapid strike passes from allied Nigerien air assets, which compounded the pressure on the fleeing insurgents. Exploitation of the engagement area led to the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons, ammunition and combat enablers, including 52 AK-47 rifles, 8 PKT machine guns, 7 RPG tubes, 5 General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), over 3,000 rounds of assorted 7.62mm ammunition, 21 RPG bombs, 9 locally fabricated IEDs, multiple magazines, communication radios and components of armed drones deployed by the terrorists.

Despite the scale and intensity of the assault, own troops recorded minimal casualties, with four soldiers wounded in action and promptly stabilised, while follow-on Battle Damage Assessment of air interdictions remains ongoing.

Significantly, the operation resulted in the neutralisation of three high-profile terrorist commanders, namely Mallam Abdulrahman Gobara, Mallam Ba Yuram and Abou Ayyuba, who were key figures in coordinating and leading the failed assault.

Furthermore, several other identified fighters were eliminated during the engagement, including Zarkawi, Ba Bunu, Rawa Fannami, Abowor Suwurti, Bulama Mil, Abu Aisha, Suleimana, Abu Rijal, Abu Ali, Abba Gana Kawiyya and Ahmodu Hirasama. The elimination of these commanders and fighters represents a severe disruption to the terrorist command structure and operational capability within the axis.

This decisive victory represents a major operational setback for the terrorist network and further underscores the growing combat effectiveness, resilience and tactical superiority of Operation HADIN KAI forces across the Theatre.

The failed attack clearly contradicts recent misleading propaganda and false narratives suggesting that troops are overwhelmed or experiencing setbacks. On the contrary, troops remain firmly in control of all locations, maintaining dominance through sustained offensive operations, effective joint force integration and high morale.

Operation HADIN KAI reassures the general public that the security situation in Mallam Fatori and its environs remains firmly under control, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and disregard unverified reports intended to undermine ongoing military operations. The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry and resilience, urging them to sustain the operational tempo.

This man is the legendary musician who has lived all his life in Oluwalogbon street ketu, behind Baba Ajefemi Ibukun Orisun Iye Church before his demise.

I remember when Baba had some issues in one of his tours in the United States, his last wife (Hus Favorite) who is of one of the southern Nigerian origin that I dont want to mentioned left him immediately and abandoned his son (A**) who was still a baby then, when she heard baba has been sentenced to 3 years in the US and another 2 here, only the old wives waited for baba.

Baba bounced back when he came back but the pikin who was left by his mom because of a lack of parental care, hmmm, I leave the story for another day!

This great man made me see the first guitar played by Sir Shina Peters back then in Oluwalogbon street ketu.

I was stopped by the FRSC yesterday and he was telling that my offence is 15k, i brought out the List to show him it's 3k.

The other officers had to come take a look

I told them where i got it does not matter and ask them to see the reference below from their own law you put in the write up

Ayefele was fined 500m for stealing a song!

I grew up loving Yinka Ayefele.

In one of his albums, he responded to people who said he steals songs, "Won in moji won lorin."

I used to think Yinka Ayefele was too versatile and talented to steal anyone’s song. But his case with Baba Okoto-Jesu changed my mind.

I was in Ogbomoso when Okoto Jesu released “Ilekun Ayo Mi Ti Shi.” A few years later, Ayefele released the same song, word for word and claimed he was the composer. The song went more viral.

When Okoto Jesu spoke out, Yinka Ayefele denied it and the matter was taken to court.
However, big names like Baba Hezekiah Ojo of the CAC and Senwele Jesu family intervened.

Yinka Ayefele later left Ibadan and went to Ogbomoso to beg Baba Okoto Jesu.

According to Baba Okoto, Yinka Ayefele promised to do something for him but never fulfilled that promise.

Unfortunately, organisations like MTN Nigeria using the song for commercial back out.

The statement that shocked me the most was when Baba Okoto said that Yinka Ayefele said he felt the song was just by a nobody.he can 'rubbish'

If someone can lift lyrics word for word and claim them as his own, then stealing a melody would seem like a minor issue.

I don’t think there is anything Dr. Yinka Ayefele has not achieved in terms of career success. At his age, legacy and a good name should matter.

But while growing, everyone makes mistakes, Dr Ayefele needs to manage his case with Beautiful Nubia very well. It's just one of those things.

When I first listened to 'Igbagbo ireti' by Yinka Ayefele, I immediately felt like I knew the song before. It was not until later that it was traced to 'Seven lifes' by Beautiful Nubia.

Humility can settle this issue silently.

IMF: Nigeria to overtake Algeria as Africa’s third-largest economy in 2026

Nigeria ranked as Africa’s fourth-largest economy in 2025, but is projected to climb to third position in 2026, according to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Data from the IMF’s World Economic Outlook (October 2025 edition), accessed via the Fund’s datamapper, showed Nigeria’s gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices stood at about $285 billion in 2025, placing it behind South Africa, Egypt and Algeria.

South Africa topped the African ranking with a GDP of about $426 billion, followed by Egypt at $349 billion, while Algeria ranked third with $288 billion.
