John Johnson still holds Iowa's single-game scoring record with 49 points.
He was the leading scorer for the 1970 Hawkeyes, who averaged 102.9 points per game, a still-standing Big Ten record (second is 97.1). He was a 2-time NBA all-star and a NBA champ with Seattle in 1979.
What if I told you guys this isn’t a gimmick at all, @PeteThamel & @PatMcAfeeShow? But rather rule that pushed through hastily without taking into consideration legitimate player safety concerns and potential roster implications…
The Iowa basketball staff has offered the son of former Hawkeye great and 13-year NBA veteran, Reggie Evans. RJ Evans is a 6-foot-5 small forward in the class of 2029 and has quickly become one of the better prospects in the country.
247Sports' @TravisBranham_ recently had this to say of the Iowa legacy:
"He's got size, is long, extremely athletic, but what separates him is the level of toughness, competitiveness and confidence he plays with on the court. He brings it on both sides of the ball, flies around on defense and disrupts the game, gets downhill, elevates above the rim and shows talent as a three-level scorer."
I’ve met Gary Dolphin a few times and he is a great and respectful man who loves the University of Iowa athletics.
What Fran and Margaret McCaffery have done to him and to the beat reporters for Iowa sports is a disgrace. They were never out to get Fran but rather get answers for us fans.
Shameful.
Iowa is hiring longtime NFL offensive coordinator Tom Moore (Peyton Manning's OC with the Indianapolis Colts) as senior consultant to the head coach and offensive advisor. Moore, who is 87, played QB at Iowa in the late 1950s.
