I got “revise and resubmit” on my PhD thesis yesterday, which wasn’t the outcome I was hoping for or that my supervisors had anticipated. Whilst I’m pretty devastated, I think it’s important to share the setbacks as well as the good stuff. Round two, we go again 🤞
Only just had chance to post about it, but so enjoyed @LydiaJIV’s talk yesterday on race-making in civic performance. Delivered so beautifully and a fascinating area of expanding research. Thanks to @HolehouseLucy for organising!
@sallybutcher Thanks so much Sally! There’s been an appeal (of sorts) and I’m feeling a lot brighter now. I can’t say much on here ofc but things are looking up. Hope you’re doing well! 💕
Classing this as essential viva prep reading … such an important topic, especially with the state of reproductive rights in America and other countries across the world.
The CFP for our closing conference 'Medicine, Slavery, and Race in the Atlantic World, 1440-1833' is now live! Deadline for submissions is 14th February, and the conference takes place 15th-17th May 2025. Please share! https://t.co/PmnqAuoQO3 #earlymodern#histmed@kingshistory
So enjoyed the wonderful Victorian Radicals exhibition at @BM_AG! The Pre-Raphaelites had such a vivid way of using colour, portraying emotions/intimacy and depicting (some) of the women in their artwork.
1st of November and an entirely new chapter for me … Three years, 79,000 words and just a viva to go until I’m officially #PhDone. Thank you so much @Midlands4Cities & my amazing supervisors @DrCLaoutaris & @BurtonsAnatomy for making this possible!
