🧑‍💻@nagasha_'s path into Bitcoin open source is anything but ordinary. She began her career as a civil engineer, explored technology on the side, and followed her curiosity into a completely new world.

That curiosity led her to @BitDevsKLA 🇺🇬, the @btrust_builders program, and eventually to a full-time role contributing to @lightningpolar.

She walked them through building usable products in the Bitcoin and freedom tech ecosystem – no fluff, just real constraints. Mobile-first. Power outages. Limited data. Real users.

Day 5. Final Day of the Lightning Developer Bootcamp in Kampala ⚡️🇺🇬

We wrapped things up the best way possible.

By building.

The final day was dedicated to a mini hackathon, with 7 groups working on different ideas built on top of everything they had learned over the past few days.
You could feel the shift immediately.

Each group presented what they built, how they approached the problem, and the challenges they faced along the way. It wasn’t just about the final product, it was about the thinking behind it.

One moment that stood out.

A solo female developer went head to head with full teams and came out second, just a few points behind the winner.

That tells you everything you need to know about the level of talent in the room.

In the end, sats were awarded to both the winning team and the runner up, a small but meaningful reward for the work put in over the week. Shout out to @GorillaSats and @BitDevsKLA for contributing to the sats prize.

But beyond the prizes, the real win was clear.

Developers who came in curious are leaving as builders.
Thanks to @BrindonMwiine and team, the bootcamp also led to the creation of the first Bitcoin Club at Makerere University, Kampala. That’s a huge win.

Huge thanks to our instructor, @dzeg5, for leading from the front and making sure no one was left behind.

"Bitcoin Just Got Killed By Quantum Computing" ... at least that's what the doomers are currently saying.

Here's why:

Google just unveiled Willow, a quantum supercomputer with 105 qubits and improved error correction. It’s a groundbreaking leap in computing power, but does this mean Bitcoin’s encryption is about to crumble?

🚫 Short Answer: No.

🔒 Bitcoin's Encryption at a Glance:

1️⃣ ECDSA 256 (Signatures):
- Vulnerable to Shor’s Algorithm.
- Cracking it would require millions of qubits. Willow’s 105? Not even close.

2️⃣ SHA-256 (Mining):
- Could be impacted by Grover’s Algorithm.
- Needs millions of qubits just to halve its security. Again, no real threat here.

💡 What Does This Mean?

Bitcoin’s cryptography remains secure—for now. However, quantum advancements like Willow are a wake-up call. While the tech isn’t ready to challenge Bitcoin yet, it highlights the importance of quantum-resistant upgrades. The industry has time to prepare, but innovation must keep pace.

Quantum computing is a game-changer, but it’s not the master key to break Bitcoin—at least not today. The race is on to future-proof cryptography before quantum computers scale further.

Conclusion: Bitcoin's cryptography remains safe (and can be upgraded anyway if there would emerge a real threat).
