About 20 Years ago, Irene Ndibo returned to Kenya from US, where she was a high profile Vice President in Goldman Sachs. She came to be a founder executive of Renaissance Capital. She wanted a lawyer to advise her & Caroline Mutoko referred her to me. Irene was the cleverest girl I ever met. She was a woman ahead of her time. But Kenya as always ready wasn’t ready for highly prodigious people like her. Irene understood private equity more than anyone in Kenya. Yet we didn’t use her. Irene was let down by her country. She died relatively young. Irene was super clever, beautiful & elegant. With excellent prose. FARE THEE WELL IRENE!
It's a victorious day for women and girls across the continent!
The 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the AU has just adopted the #AUEVAWGConvention, a first of its kind comprehensive continental instrument to address #VAWG in Africa.
🇪🇺🇨🇩🇷🇼 We welcome the resolution of the @Europarl_EN , adopted on 13 February by a large majority, notably under the leadership of @MounirSatouri and @hildevautmans. This resolution urges the Rwandan government to withdraw its troops from Congolese territory and to stop cooperating with the M23 armed group. In the context of a war of aggression and occupation of the DRC resulting in serious human rights violations, the Parliament is right to call on the @EuroCommission and the Member States to suspend direct budgetary aid as well as military and security assistance to Rwanda, to freeze all aid and to immediately suspend the EU-Rwanda Memorandum of Understanding on raw materials as part of the Global Gateway strategy. We hope that the other European institutions and European countries will follow the voice of elected representatives and that the EU will consistently defend its fundamental values in its relations with the rest of the world.
Congratulations to Mohamed Ali Youssouf @yahmoudali elected Chairperson of the @_AfricanUnion Commission. We urge him to prioritize the resolution of the war of aggression suffered by the Congolese population in eastern #DRC 🇨🇩. The recent advance of the M23 and the Rwandan army in South Kivu Province transgresses a new red line that increases the risk of a regional escalation. It is time to silence the guns in the African Great Lakes region and respect the basic principles of international law and the founding treaties of the African Union. Without peace and stability in the heart of Africa, the entire continent bleeds and its aspirations for development and prosperity are undermined.

@Kamaitha The issue with Made in Kenya Pads is that we dont have raw materials available locally and they have to be imported. These raw materials are taxed yet finished imported pads are not. As a result, sanitary pad factories shut down those lines. African Cotton, Interconsumer, …
@AlinurMohamed_ Tax ONLY on imported finished sanitary pad products but NO TAX on locally manufactured sanitary pads! Tax exempt imported finished sanitary pads have killed the local factories that used to manufacture pads!!
The Kenya Red Cross has today launched three transformative initiatives; the AI Mental Health Chatbot, Mental Health Framework and USSD Code. The three initiatives embody our commitment to revolutionizing mental health support.
The Chatbot, which can be accessed here https://t.co/KqySSGnikm and in our other platforms such as Facebook Messenger and Telegram, offers immediate assistance and resources via AI technology, while our Framework integrates comprehensive mental health services into our community.
The USSD Code (*789*1199#) service provides accessible support for users without internet access, ensuring inclusivity in our mental health efforts.
