I’ve been thinking a lot about Ferran Torres’ career today, and it’s actually quite remarkable how he always finds a way to overcome adversity and land on his feet.

From being caught talking to himself pleading that an offload goal stood just weeks ago, to winning the World Cup for his country. But here’s the thing, while yesterday’s goal will get ALL the attention, he’s quietly had a brilliant World Cup.

Every time the coach has called on him from the bench, Ferran’s repaid his trust. Let’s not overlook the signifance of that beautiful assist against Portugal - which was yet another match winning contribution right at the cusp of fulltime.

And looking at it from a more macro perspective, this is now a player who’s produced over 40 goals in the past two seasons, many of those off the bench, while furher adding a World Cup winner to his resume - all whilst currently being pursued by the best team in the world.

Most remarkably, perhaps, he’s still only 26. Respect Ferran Torres, he’s more than earned it.
