Former @Europarl_EN President Klaus Hänsch shaped Europe’s journey towards unity.

He helped bring down barriers and borders.

That responsibility now passes to us.

To continue that work and to build a Europe that brings people together and protects them.

Aliaksandr Milinkevich dedicated his life to the fight for democracy in Belarus.

All of us at @Europarl_EN are deeply saddened by his passing. The 2006 Sakharov Prize laureate was forced into exile, but he never gave up on his country or his vision of a free Belarusian society.

His courage and legacy will stay with us. Europe continues to stand with the people of Belarus.

Former President of the European Parliament Klaus Hänsch has passed away.

His @Europarl_EN mourns the loss of a champion of Europe, who took office at a time of profound change for our continent, and who never stopped believing in the potential of this project. 

At our last meeting just a few weeks ago, his unwavering optimism shone through as he described his ongoing efforts to promote civic engagement and nurture young European leaders. 

Europe will miss him. May he rest in peace 🇪🇺

94-year-old Jan Antoni Witkowski is a European hero.

82 years ago, as he was just entering his teenage years, he joined his father in the Warsaw Uprising to fight for freedom and human dignity.

Today, we honour Jan, all those who survived, and all those who gave their lives. Their courage reminds us that the Europe we enjoy today was built on the sacrifice of ordinary people who chose extraordinary bravery.

Their story is Europe's story. And their legacy continues to inspire us to defend the values of freedom, democracy, and peace for generations to come.

On that day, Norway grieved, and Europe grieved with it.

The new Programme for Agile and Rapid Defence Innovation (AGILE) will accelerate defence innovation, bring new capabilities to the field faster, help start-ups access funding, support Ukraine’s needs and, above all, make Europe safer.

Il y a dix ans, l'Europe était bouleversée par le terrible attentat terroriste de Nice.

Une décennie plus tard, nous rendons hommage aux 86 victimes, aux centaines de personnes blessées et aux familles à jamais marquées par cette nuit.

Que leur mémoire continue de nous unir dans notre détermination à lutter contre la haine et la violence, et à défendre une Europe fondée sur la paix et la liberté.
